Description
This project shows how a small addition to a spectacular family home can make a remarkable contribution to the design, function, and near year-round use a pergola can offer. The client wanted to be able to work in and enjoy an outdoor space that connected them to the outdoors, yet provided daily shelter. Using our sliding glass panel system, heat stays in and the rain stays at bay on cooler, wetter days. Yet when the sun is out and there is a lovely cross breeze, the glass panels and louvres can be opened.
Key Features
- Retro-fitted Aluminium Louvre Roof: This wrap-around 4.4m x 4.0m electric louvred roof is extended to a further 4.85m with the addition of a timber roof overhang along the front of the building, adding shade and a timber design element.
- Sliding Glass Panels: Four made-to-measure glass panels along the side elevations and six along the front elevation, fitted to a surface-mounted track, allowing for adaptability to any weather.
- Smart Control: All features, including the louvres, lighting, and heaters, can be controlled via smartphone using Somfy Tahoma or by remote control for ultimate convenience.
