The Cattelan Italia Rio Coffee Table is a two-component accent table combining a Walnut Veneer Log-Section top (approx. 60×50 cm plan, 4 cm thick) with a Graphite Embossed lacquered steel base — available in three heights: 35h cm, 42h cm, and 50h cm. The top plan dimensions are organic — each top is a real cross-section slice of walnut veneer on MDF, meaning no two tops share exactly the same grain ring pattern or outline. The base is fixed in Graphite Embossed across all three heights; only the base height changes between versions. Both parcels (top + base) ship together per height — total weights range from 5.00 kg (35h) to 5.50 kg (50h). Made in Italy by Cattelan Italia.

In a three-height cluster it provides the lowest visual anchor. 42h cm — Mid: At 42 cm height, the Mid Rio sits at approximately sofa seat height for most contemporary seating — it functions as a practical beside-sofa surface as well as an accent piece. The 7 cm step up from the Low provides a clear but gentle height graduation in a cluster. 50h cm — Tall: At 50 cm height, the Tall Rio approaches standard side table height (50–65 cm range) and functions comfortably as a sofa-side or beside-armchair surface. The 8 cm step up from Mid provides a visible height distinction in a cluster. Walnut veneer on MDF — each top is a cross-section slice with a natural, organic outline and authentic ring grain pattern. No two tops are identical; minor variations in outline shape, grain ring density, veneer colour depth, and edge profile are inherent to the natural material and are a characteristic feature of the Rio design rather than a quality variation. The top is 4 cm thick — substantial enough to read as a solid wood-like panel at normal viewing distances despite the veneer-on-MDF construction.
Graphite Embossed
Base · All Heights
Graphite Embossed lacquered steel — a dark, textured metallic finish with a fine embossed relief pattern. The dark graphite tone provides a strong tonal contrast against the warm walnut veneer top — the dark geometric base and the warm organic top are the defining visual dialogue of the Rio. The embossed surface adds tactile depth to the base and reduces flat reflections. Fixed across all three heights — the base finish does not vary between 35h, 42h, and 50h versions.
