Protective Covers
Weathermax Tailored Covers
When not in use, Gloster recommends protecting furniture with specially designed covers to help prevent dirt and stains from pollution, falling leaves, birds and splashes.
Each cover is tailored to the lounger’s unique dimensions for a close fit and features strap‑and‑clip connectors or ties to secure it against the wind.
Covers are made from Weathermax, a heavy‑duty 100% solution‑dyed polyester combining UV resistance, water resistance, breathability and durability.
Use & Care
The breathable fabric reduces dampness, heat build‑up and condensation under the cover, helping limit mould or mildew on the furniture. Some moisture can still penetrate if water is allowed to pool; remove standing water to minimise this.
For extended periods (e.g. winter), ensure furniture and cushions are completely dry before covering; cushions should be dried indoors so moisture is removed from the interior. Remove covers regularly so furniture can be cleaned and maintained.
Woven Material Properties & Care
Material Properties
Gloster woven furniture uses polyethylene (PE) wicker that is practical, soft to the touch and highly supple, with tear, UV and weather resistance.
The coloured material is extruded through a shaped die so fibres are through‑dyed and completely weatherproof, colourfast, hard wearing and resistant to chlorine, salt water, tanning lotions and oils.
The wicker is woven over a fully welded, powder‑coated aluminium frame, which is then largely hidden and fully protected against corrosion.
Cleaning & Repair
Clean regularly with a 1:16 mild‑detergent to lukewarm‑water solution using a soft bristle brush, then rinse thoroughly with cold water. A low‑pressure hose is acceptable on wicker (avoid teak components).
Remove all foam residue to prevent dirt build‑up between fibres and dry splashes on metal or teak to avoid water stains. Minor abrasion can be repaired by carefully heating the fibre edge and smoothing with cardboard; broken fibres can be replaced by weaving in a new strip.
Aluminium Material Properties & Care
Material Properties
Aluminium offers excellent strength‑to‑weight ratio and natural corrosion resistance, making it ideal for outdoor frames. Gloster frames undergo extensive pre‑treatment before powder coating.
Frames are sanded, cleaned and degreased, then given a chrome conversion coating before the polyester powder coat is electro‑statically applied and cured at around 200 °C.
The resulting finish is thicker and harder than conventional paint, with no solvents involved.
Cleaning
Powder‑coated aluminium requires only gentle cleaning with water and mild liquid detergent. Use a microfibre cloth or sponge, then remove surface water with a drying cloth to avoid water spots.
Avoid abrasive cleaners and tools such as steel wool or Scotchbrite that can mark the surface. Powder coat is difficult to repair perfectly with liquid paint if damaged.
Cushion Fabric Technology
Sunbrella Solution‑Dyed Acrylic
All Gloster upholstery fabrics use Sunbrella solution‑dyed acrylic yarns. Colour is added to the liquid solution before extrusion, so each yarn is coloured throughout for high fade resistance under UV exposure.
Fabrics have a water‑ and stain‑repellent finish so most spills bead on the surface and can be dabbed away.
Performance Groups
Outdoor Performance: Uncoated Sunbrella fabrics with a soft hand, combined with luxurious fillings and an internal water‑resistant barrier to keep drying times short.
Water Resistant (RAIN): Sunbrella fabrics with a highly water‑resistant coating on the reverse face; combined with open‑cell cushion fillings to allow air circulation and speed drying.
Soft Touch: Knitted Sunbrella fabrics with a 3D structure that provides extra softness and texture, plus stretch for complex cushion shapes.
2026 Warranty & Returns
Warranty Terms
Gloster warrants its outdoor furniture to the original purchaser against defective materials and workmanship under intended reasonable use from the delivery date. The warranty is non‑transferable and requires proof of purchase.
The product must not have been misused, neglected, modified or repaired by unauthorised persons and must have been maintained according to Gloster aftercare instructions.
Normal wear and tear, cosmetic damage in use and natural teak weathering or end‑grain cracking are not covered. Wheels and footcaps are warranted for 1 year; sling/strap/rope components are covered against tearing, discolouration or fading (normal sagging excluded). No claims are accepted for products or components over 5 years old; statutory rights are not affected.
