Natural Leather Handle
Outdoor Character: Like teak, natural leather will gradually change in colour and character when exposed to the elements. It may darken, stiffen slightly in strong sun and expand or contract with changing weather conditions.
Regular Cleaning: Gloster recommends regular cleaning of leather using Glycerine Soap (Saddle Soap), applied with a clean damp sponge, left to dry and then buffed with a clean cloth.
Optional Conditioning: A leather dressing or conditioner such as Hamanol can be used to add an extra protective layer, although regular soap cleaning is generally sufficient for routine care.
Natural Finish Teak Frame
Natural Weathering: Gloster teak is supplied with a natural finish and will gradually change from golden brown to a light silvery grey when left outdoors, usually over 6 months to 2 years depending on climate and exposure.
Routine Maintenance: Teak only requires occasional cleaning, ideally once or twice a year, using water and mild detergent or a dedicated teak cleaner. An occasional light sanding can help restore a smooth feel if grain raises over time.
Avoid Oils & Pressure Washing: Power washers should never be used on teak, and outdoor teak should not be treated with oils, varnish or paint, as these can damage the surface or lead to blackening and mildew.
