Material Composition
Fern combines a natural finish teak base frame, powder coated aluminium back frame, woven outdoor rope back panel and upholstered outdoor fabric seat cushion. The teak is left with a natural finish so it can weather to a light silvery grey, while the aluminium frame and performance rope provide durable structure and support for long‑term outdoor use.
Outdoor Fabrics
Gloster uses solution dyed acrylic yarns for its fabrics, providing excellent colour fastness and resistance to fading from UV exposure. Outdoor Performance, Water Resistant and Soft Touch fabrics combine protective finishes, water‑resistant barriers and soft, tactile weaves so cushions dry quickly and feel comfortable, with spills beading on the surface for easier cleaning.
Rope Properties & Care
The woven rope used on Fern is a Sunbrella outdoor rope with a braided acrylic jacket over a strong polyester core. Regular light brushing, prompt cleaning of spills and gentle washing with mild detergent help keep the rope looking its best; stubborn marks can be treated with a carefully rinsed mild bleach solution, avoiding prolonged exposure to bleach.
Teak & Protective Covers
Natural teak requires only occasional cleaning and may be allowed to weather or treated with Gloster Teak Sealer and Protector if you wish to retain more of its original colour. Gloster protective covers are made from breathable Weathermax polyester; they help shield furniture from dirt and debris, but cushions and frames should be clean and dry before long‑term covering and surfaces still need periodic maintenance.
