The Cattelan Italia Address Bookcase is a modular, floor-to-ceiling shelving system built around two sculptural pillar forms — the X Pillar and the Y Pillar — from which individual shelves radiate outward in a cantilevered, architectural arrangement. Address is a system of considered restraint: each element — pillar, shelf, and metal detail — is precisely specified in a curated set of finish combinations that pair embossed metal tones with natural wood veneers and oxidised accent finishes, ensuring every composition reads as a unified, coherent object rather than a configurable assembly. The Y Pillar is the taller, more slender vertical element in two height variants (Y1 and Y2), while the X Pillar is wider at the base with a distinctive star-footed cross-section. Compositions range from the single standalone shelf to complete pillar-and-shelf arrangements of up to five shelves per pillar. All elements are available in two fixed finish pairings: a cool Canaletto Walnut – Titanium Embossed – Oxy Grey palette, and a warm Burned Oak – Bronze Embossed – Oxy Brass palette. • Two Pillar Forms — X and Y: The Y Pillar is a slender, tall vertical column available in two height ranges (Y1: 280–330 cm; Y2: 260–310 cm), with an 18 cm diameter and a maximum plan footprint of 67×67 cm. The X Pillar is lower (244 cm) with a distinctive wider base (55 cm diameter, 24.5 cm base width) and a maximum plan footprint of 60×52 cm. The two pillar types create different compositional characters within the same room.
• Six Configurations — From Single Shelf to Full Composition: Address can be ordered as a standalone Single Shelf, an isolated X Pillar or Y Pillar, or as complete pillar-and-shelf compositions: 1×Y Pillar + 4 Shelves, 1×Y Pillar + 5 Shelves, and 1×X Pillar + 5 Shelves. Each composition is a self-contained, fully finished system.
• Two Curated Finish Palettes — No Free Mix: Every Address element is specified within one of two fixed palettes. The Cool Palette pairs Canaletto Walnut wood shelves with Titanium Embossed metal and Oxy Grey accent details. The Warm Palette pairs Burned Oak wood shelves with Bronze Embossed metal and Oxy Brass accent details. These pairings are fixed — the two palettes cannot be combined within a single composition.
• Cantilevered Shelves — Wood Veneer on Metal Structure: Each shelf projects from the pillar structure without visible support brackets, creating a clean, floating appearance. The shelf surface is finished in either Canaletto Walnut or Burned Oak veneer, with metal shelf edges and detail elements in the corresponding embossed finish.

Bookcase Configuration

The Single Shelf is the most minimal Address element — a standalone cantilevered shelf that can be used alone as a display shelf or in a multiples arrangement. The X Pillar and Y Pillar alone serve as pure sculptural vertical objects without shelves, making a powerful statement as standalone room elements. The full compositions (Y+4, Y+5, X+5) are the complete expressions of the Address system, functioning as floor-to-ceiling bookcases with generous display and storage capacity. The Y+5 composition is the tallest and most dramatically vertical; the X+5 introduces the distinctive star-footed pillar base into the composition for a different, broader architectural character at floor level.

The six Address finish materials are grouped into two non-interchangeable palettes. Cool Palette: Canaletto Walnut (shelf wood), Titanium Embossed (metal frame, shelf metal, shelf detail), and Oxy Grey (pillar accent). This palette is characterised by a precise, architecturally cool composure — the pale silver-tone embossed metal and natural walnut read as a refined, contemporary pairing, grounded by the patinated grey of the Oxy Grey accent. Warm Palette: Burned Oak (shelf wood), Bronze Embossed (metal frame, shelf metal, shelf detail), and Oxy Brass (pillar accent). The warm, darkened oak tone of Burned Oak wood is deepened further by the amber-brown richness of Bronze Embossed metal, with the aged brass of Oxy Brass bringing an antique, organic quality to the pillar accent detail.
