The Cattelan Italia Gibson Armrest & Backrest Modules are the end-finishing and back-extension components of the Gibson modular sofa system — flat upholstered panels that attach to the open sides of Gibson Central and Chaise Units to close off sofa ends, add armrests, and extend the back profile of any composition. Four module sizes cover two depth profiles and two width options: the wider AR40 and AR50 series (39 cm and 52 cm deep at 51 cm height) function as generous armrest and backrest panels suited to compositions where a more padded end profile is desired, while the slimmer AR25 series (26 cm deep at 63 cm height) provides a leaner, taller back-extension panel for compositions requiring a more upright back line. All four modules are available in two widths — 104 cm and 117 cm — matching the seat depths of the Gibson Central Units to ensure seamless flush alignment at every junction. Upholstered across Category A through F fabrics. Made in Italy by Cattelan Italia.

Sofa End Finishing — Closing Open Junctions
Gibson Armrest & Backrest Modules are designed to close the open lateral ends of any Gibson Central or Chaise Unit, completing the sofa silhouette with a flush, fully upholstered panel. Placed at either end of a linear run or at the outer end of an L-shaped or peninsula composition, they provide a clean, finished sofa edge with no exposed structural elements. The module width must match the seat depth of the adjoining unit (104 cm or 117 cm) to achieve flush alignment across the full junction face.
AR40 / AR50 — Wide Armrest Profile
The AR40-100 (39 cm deep) and AR50-120 (52 cm deep) modules provide a generous padded armrest surface at 51 cm height — at or slightly above seat height — creating a comfortable armrest that also functions as a side back panel. The AR50-120 at 52 cm depth offers a particularly generous armrest volume suited to wide, lounge-oriented compositions built on 117 cm depth Central Units.
AR25 — Slim Tall Back-Extension Profile
The AR25-100 and AR25-120 modules (both 26 cm deep at 63 cm height) provide a lean, tall side back panel that aligns exactly with the 63 cm back height of the Gibson Central Units, extending the back line cleanly to the end of the composition. At only 26 cm depth, the AR25 series adds minimal visual weight to the sofa end while providing a continuous, upright back boundary from seat to composition edge.
